Frequently Asked Questions

  • How should I care for my window coverings?

Caring for your window coverings will largely depend on the type of material they are made from. If you have curtains, the best thing to do is to adhere to the care instructions. If these instructions allow machine washing, make sure you remove all hooks, weights and metals prior to putting the curtains in the wash. You should use a mild detergent and a gentle spin cycle, and finish with line drying in the shade. For blinds or shutters that have become dirty, we recommend wiping them with a damp cloth.

  • Do curtains keep heat out?

Variations, such as blackout curtains, can reduce the amount of heat transferred via your windows by as much as 24%. These curtains can help keep your rooms cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter.

  • What length curtain pole should I order?

You should aim for the curtain poles to be at least 15cm over each side of the window, excluding the finials (end parts of the pole). Larger windows should be 20–25cm over each side, though this can vary depending on the size of the room and the space available. Our expert sales staff can help you determine which size pole to order with your curtains.

  • What size curtain pole do I need for eyelet curtains?

Eyelet curtains usually have an eyelet ring with a 40mm diameter. We have metal curtain poles that feature an ideal diameter of 28mm. This size allows for the eyelet curtains to open and close smoothly without getting snagged.

  • How do I know what size curtains to order?

Window shapes and sizes can vary dramatically, which means each window will need to be measured individually. The safest way to get the correct measurement is to measure the window's length and width a few times. Our team is happy to complete a free in-home measure and quote. Contact us to get started.
